When I Dream Of YouA Poem by A.T.B.
I keep your voice loitering
in my mind like I keep chocolate
leisurely melting in my mouth.
I hung on to you the way
a summer’s day holds on to sunlight
until the sun
coyly withdraws behind the horizon
in a fiery, orange shroud.
That’s why the sun, which seems
trounced by the darkness of night,
brazenly surges back into the morning, the day's waiting embrace.
When I close my eyes, I could feel
the warmth of your body
by my side;
your head gently reposes
on my shoulder; your arms wrapped around
my chest
and your fingers
touching my face. In my dreams,
you gracefully float like a water Lily
sailing down the dawdling stream
of my consciousness.
Your brows accentuate your eyes like two
crescents in a starless sky. You are magnificent.
