A Night In The Life

A Night In The Life

A Poem by cad

She lies on her back,

Writhing:

A perfect sight.

He appreciates her soft, innocent beauty,

As the last in the world,

Clinging tight.

In a brief moment of glory

She feels at peace.

In a lingering moment of clarity

She remembers the lies,

The hatred,

The truth.

He feels her tense,

Consoles her spirit and then

Clings once more.

Tighter.

Motionless,

She lies,

A single tear caressing her cheek:

She has failed him.

In one painful second, she wonders

How much to charge.

There's so much inference in such simple lines. But the last line is a come down. A good piece.
