21 candles

21 candles

A Poem by Carissa Marie

Chocolate kisses from tarnished dreams,
With her unfulfilled wishes, her silence screams.

She blows twenty-one unlit candles,
Of twenty-one forgotten monuments.
Her phoenix-ical moment,
Wasted with regret.
She flicks the candle wick,
And her fingers burned with invisible fire,
Adding fuel to the open flame
That began to burn inside.
She breathes a silent prayer; and
She wished herself a happy birthday.

All the while waiting,
For the unlit candle to melt away.

A interesting poem. You create visions of girl in thoughts and wonder. I liked how you used the unlit candles. Make the poem strong and clear. Thank you Carissa for sharing your excellent poetry.

Hello! Salamat! :))
Great write, Carissa. It's something everyone can relate to, though the regret is unknown.
