mankind is a fickle thing

We commonly use metaphors to relate one thing to the other

This would be something like 

"Life is a box of chocolates"

And so we create these things 

Because they are related to the truth.

We face the truth without truly facing it.

But it doesn't matter however good you get at making up metaphors.

In the end, we are still

Digging our own

Graves.

An interesting take on metaphors. They certainly have their place in the world. Sometimes you need to deal with something more remotely before you can do so more intimately. It can be a very important tool in unpacking situations, particularly traumatic ones, and working through them. Like anything though, it can and has been overused. Everything does not need to be a metaphor and they can become screens and shields that we put up to keep us from ever having to deal with our actual problems. Especially when we’ve dressed the problems up so nicely with our words.
