Spent

Spent

A Poem by C. James Snyder
"

On the inchoate character of life, love, and sometimes our maturity in these matters.

"
You are the rise and Fall
of my chest;

dew-kissed mornings of Spring;

the space between what lies above
and what dwells in me below.

But I used you as a life-
preserver;

as a sustainable nervous energy.

Yet you are a human
with a natural God-fearing half-life;

and I am so sorry if I used you all up.
