How to Become Lost

How to Become Lost

A Poem by cassandra violet

If you are not your heart

Then you are not you

And everything you know

Will be lost.

Your thoughts will not ponder

The same, your name

Will change as you

Become someone different.

Your heart is your blood, your veins

As it is your essence, your soul

So water its flowers and

Let the petals grow.

If you seek different

Seeds then you’ll never

see your bud listen and gleam

dancing with the green of the grass.

So take the time to walk in

Your hearts garden, admiring

The hues that are the mirrors of you

And to them be forever true.

Because once they are lost

They fall to the ground in ash,

Picked up by the lonely wind

So sway unsteadily in the vast.

quite an inspiring write..can potentially save someone from actually losing their identity and mau inspire them for that more than worhty fight for themselves..the piece kinda reminded me of ups and downs of my life in the past 3-4 years. and now when i look back at them i feel a little strange. because it was not actually love that helped me know myself better it was the loss of love that helped me save my identity and held me back from losing myself in those unknown, never ending alleys of surreal happiness...

This is awsome I love the way you open this poem.

If you are not your heart
Then you are not you
And everything you know
Will be lost.

It is so true. I discovered who I am because of my past hurts. Without them I would never have found my strength or my heart.

Your heart is your blood, your veins
As it is your essence, your soul
So water its flowers and
Let the petals grow.

Such good advice! and then your last two stanzas reminding us to spend time and enjoy our hearts because of the fleeting time we have before we die.

All that and waith such an elegantly simple poetic structure. Absolutely delightful poem.

I hate this part. This is the part where I try to tell you who I am, what I've been and what I want with every single last milimeter of blood dancing in my veins to become- the person who my heart bea.. more..
