September MelodyA Poem by Chris Shaw(drifting along on the river)
Remnants of misty autumn lifts
Sun floods our space, a trace of us Stirs that mirrored glass reflection Only the purr of an engine Like a cat, fattened with cream of milk Top of the morning, flat on her back Worshipping in warmth We drift and pass, willows weeping Sweeping, tips wet, tresses touching Caressing, a young girl's hair Softly in September's care In company of ochre boats Confetti floating in a swirl Of fallen leaves, we make our way A melody of moments in A perfect autumnal day
