September Melody

September Melody

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(drifting along on the river)

"
Remnants of misty autumn lifts
Sun floods our space, a trace of us
Stirs that mirrored glass reflection

Only the purr of an engine
Like a cat, fattened with cream of milk
Top of the morning, flat on her back

Worshipping in warmth
We drift and pass, willows weeping
Sweeping, tips wet, tresses touching

Caressing, a young girl's hair
Softly in September's care
In company of ochre boats

Confetti floating in a swirl
Of fallen leaves, we make our way
A melody of moments in
A perfect autumnal day

Very soothing! I could feel the charm exuding from the lines. I only had trouble with the first line - and this may be a British vs Canadian thing - but should "lifts" be "lift" because "remnants" is plural? Just wondering. This is a marvellous poem overall. Well done!

It feels nice to read stuff written like this.

You have a soft velvety touch to how you describe things in writing.

Thanks David. A soft, velvety touch is fine by me.

Beautiful use of words and thoughts. You made the reader believe every word. I love the way you made the description come alive in vision and in thoughts for the reader. Thank you Chris for sharing the amazing poetry.
