Enfin

Enfin

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(from archived material)

"
let it be
let it go
let it melt
like winter snow

did you know
she once adored you
though she didn't
tell you so

yes indeed she prized
you dearly
more than trees
more than flowers
more than falling crystal raindrops
as they fell in summer showers

more than rivers flowing freely
on meanders to the sea
or the bees that court
sweet lavender
in purple passion seams

yet those drifting mists
at daybreak that obscure what's
going on and the chattering
of treetops brought a different
kind of song

along came nature's warning
as the waking sky grew red
all that loving turned to anger
as the hour glass was fed

with unwelcome doubts
at sunrise
with the whispers on the wind
it's all over storm clouds rumbled
it's all over storm clouds said

I can't believe it! Not only I just reviewed your poem using "let it be" but also more than one word/thought here I used in my new poem (still unpublished working on it). Something to admire, something not to be read and wander through it, but to feel it to the core... something this Petal wishes to write like it. your tenderness, your heart, your power, your courage and strength, all radiate with sheer magnetic beauty. yes my dear, one day, one morning, the heart will wake to know what it deserves is joy and love not tormentment. Sublime.. .

Why does feel so springlike when outside looks and feels anything but? Perhaps it is the setting of the start that seems to settle into nature's rhythm, yet nearer the end it shows how little of a say we have on nature's mood and that storms can build or come from nowhere. But they so far at least settle into a more sensible rhythm for us at least... most of the time. 😀

Rough-hewn and aching, this rides the edge of memory and regret.
It’s the kind of heartbreak that smells like wet earth after the storm.

Hello Chris. I love this! This is a different you, the poem feels youthful, quietly vibrant both with nature and with emotion. I just keep reading it again and again. The last two stanzas turn the mood to loss. Yeah, you know I relate to that. I am saving this one.

I love the way you wove an old saying of red clouds in the morning sailors take warning into the poem and its subject of relationship. So nicely woven that it seems pattern in the fabric it makes sense and follows its course. A really very nice poem of human nature our differences and how they bind us and keep us apart.
