or an air of don't care

will you fall for me quickly
as soft as a breeze
that whispers in summer
with a kiss through the trees
will the heat summon thunder
as we roll to its tune
will you dance with me darling
by the light of the moon

how will you love me
before i commit
with the whole of your wallet
or a threepenny bit
i'm after an answer
you need to come clean
are you lavish with presents
or too bloody mean

have i frightened you sweetheart
with the mention of cash
you seem in a hurry
you've gone in a flash
at the speed of a cheetah
half starved of red meat
you're out of my bedroom
and off down the street

Holy Crap, Chris!

This piece of well written Poetry is hilariously true to life ... In real life, since most ancient times, a woman is so inclined as to seek after security, and a man is truthfully seeking the eroticism's solace of sex, though he often says that he is not ... And, as time has move along, it is cash which does best represent security to a woman, as good provider must have a reasonable source of income's cash ... And this is just the way of how the world turns and the cookie of real relationships crumbles ...

I worked with a lady in Las Vegas who asked her would-be suitors: How tall are you when you stand on your wallet? I think she must be related to this poem. I can see that this is in a formal construct, and in that format it is done well. The XAXAXBXB rhyme scheme is not as harsh as some others.

Thanks WBM. Yes, I have heard of women who want to know how healthy the bank balance of a potential suitor is before contemplating romance. How shallow is that? This is my muse taking a poke at such women but in a humorous way. Yes, the rhyme here is looser.

I think this one could definitely be called a romantic comedy. Really liked the tight stanzas and fine rhyming. Made me think of a personals ad I once saw where the lady requested that all prospective dates furnish an audited bank statement.

You’re last stanza here is awesome, beware-the grifters are everywhere, but the whole piece is great and I love how you made the meter and rhyme work; the words you chose aren’t there merely to ring but have meaning, and work wonderfully. That can be a difficult thing to do… anyone can write a nursery rhyme.
