Forever My Darlings

on a glorious morning
my losses rise up
a choir of golden
they sing from blue sky

and though i am thankful
their faces aren’t blurred
today is for memories
there’s no time to cry

the decades since passing
grow distant it’s true
yet lingers that sorrow
it plays on a harp

its song pure and loving
as feelings don’t change
forever my darlings
the hem on my heart

Aww Chris my dear friend, anniversaries must be heartbreaking for you, i know you have lost several loved ones.
So lucky if you think about it my friend that you have such lovely memories ... i have no loved ones to miss only my dad and that was 50 years ago now.

Dear Stella, January is the cruelest month in my calendar. I try my best to hold on to some fine memories, but I have to say when February comes, it is a relief. Four anniversaries including my parents within a two week period. They are cherished, very much so.

Such sad and tender longing for little smiles; little laughs, little bundles of joy wrapped in the soft cloud of angelic memory. The loss is palpable but the hope burns bright like a shining light reflected in a falling tear. This was both beautiful and moving. F.

I can not recall a mourning song that has ever left me feeling more hopeful or optimistic .. of course, there have been many losses over a good many years .. indeed, some will always remain raw & painfully with me/us & regardless of how many times we may eventually smile and laugh since they first occurred some have nevertheless left the hem of my heart ragged .. poetry has already and shall continue to help me greatly .. more so the reading of others rather than my attempts to write it .. and particularly this time of year .. specifically new years eve is a time for reflection and remembering .. your 'Forever my Darlings' so much more than adequately sums the whole loss/grief thing up .. and so I thank you for that Chris and wish you n yours each and collectively a happy New Year ..

They are forever with us, but I know for a fact that though the losses still hurt, my departed loved ones tap me on the shoulder and say, live girl while you can.
