Moments

Moments

A Poem by Chris Shaw

watch sunbeams play on water

with laughter in their eyes

remember little children

the ones that don’t survive

my arms reach out to hug them

too soon those moments gone

a cloud has drifted in the way

and blocked out all the sun

brief as a breath, yet filled with love and loss. The fading sunbeam becomes a gentle symbol of children gone too soon, and the closing cloud lingers like grief itself. A tender, heart-aching poem

Oh this is just heartbreaking, Chris. As someone who suffered through five miscarriages, I identified with not being able to hug the children I felt I already knew. Heartfelt words. Lydi**

A sad poem that reminds me of James Blunt's song (The girl that never was) The poem carries with it a weight and darkness that covers the sun

.. My heart truly goes out to all those parents who endure the agony of a child born sleeping .. My own sister has been there over thirty years back and sadly still grieves for JJ .. Your words here are filled with understanding and compassion that throw light on the dark place so many are forced to endure ..

This poem lingers in the quiet ache of fleeting beauty. I love how the simple image of sunlight becomes a vessel for memory and loss. It's tender, fragile, and haunting all at once.

To hold these moments in transition is a remarkable thing. As the cloud drifts by, we will remember the children who don't survive. With tears in our eyes.

The sea has a way of slipping from our fingers, always. Even from sunbeams. So, too, those precious gems of children.

I especially like this writing, Chris- how it effortlessly carries such layers. 🙏
