the stiff bristle brush
of the blue broom
missed the cobwebs clinging
to the outside corner of
the garden shed
leaving them to survive
another day
evening sunlight embraced
each silk thread in a fine display
of rainbow colour
a reminder that everything
has its moment
and nature has a finger tip touch
to golden reveries
Sometimes its best to leave things as is .. At least then, for a moment or two, we can appreciate intrinsic beauty and then, when it feels good, we can write about it .. and savour it for always .. and I think you have proved my point just here .. Neville

The cobwebs sure looked pretty in the evening light. There is beauty everywhere for those who look and it can be found often where it is least expected. Have a very happy weekend.
Beautiful images in what some think macabre. I too find beauty in all nature and don't discern between what some call ugly and beauty. To me ugliness and chaos have their beauty as well. Here I feel the metaphor may go deeper and speak of other things varying from life style, metal state, to view on life. A lovely write Chris

Ach, there you go again Chris, seeing the positive when id just be thinking "the spider that made it is probably right behind me right now and planning its journey up my back and I my ear to lay its baby eggs. ARGH! Back in a tick, I just need to spray some raid in my ears!
Phew, so as I was saying, I haven't seen a spiders web in months, ever since it was suggested to use cinnamon to keep the blighters at bay. So far so good is all I can say and before you get all green on me, they are allowed in the attic but until they pay rent they don't get to use the amenities! 😃

I have it in an old candle jar on the shelf above the hall radiator and it tells you to put it where you see a spiders web and they hopefully seem to be a thing of the past. If I had a hedge id need quite a few jars because you see them on hedges all the time, especially in winter.
And I don't care if people call me a big feartie because they have way too many legs for me to not get the ick about! 😃

Yes, it's called origamification. Or so my surgeon said! 😃
I love how this poem finds beauty in a simple, overlooked detail. The contrast between the harsh "stiff bristle brush" and the delicate, rainbow-colored cobwebs is so clear. It's a lovely reminder that if we just pay a little more attention, we can find a small "golden reverie" in unexpected places.

AH! The alliteration! I love alliteration! Especially with the B sound, it just makes things a lot of fun to read out loud.
This poem also has wonderful internal rhyming, along with the end-of-line rhyming, which is just delightful!
This has got to be my favorite poem of yours so far, it brings on such a clear image in a simplistic but vivid way

The way sunlight embraces the silken threads of cobwebs is an art of another form, rarely appreciated. The hand of nature still tends to amaze me. Such a lovely read, Chris. Glad I found it.

Beauful words and worthy of another and another read: a glance c an create a vast memory because it appeared as a glimpse but will remain hidden until it etches self into an empty part of you.
I prefer not to walk into web tho' feel guilty if I do so. BUT to watch one being created is seeing an artist painting a masterpiece! The making of fine lace is surely similar to a spider's creation. Where there are only so many lace-makers, think of the number of spiders who offer their gifts so delicately plus - any other word that means 'beautifully.' Thoughts caught and transcribed into fragile but lasting examples.

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
