Foreboding

Foreboding

A Poem by Chris Shaw

today the sun shines brightly
the lake is filled with rain
the sparkle on the surface
is marred by pangs of pain
the river should flow easy
so gentle to the sea
yet all I feel is turbulence
and storm clouds over me

Chris, the honest emotion in this write really hit me. I hope nothing is wrong in your world....or at least that you can remedy it. The rhyming is great. Lydi**

Hiii Chris,

I normally find my refuge in nature. Its wonderful how at times nature moves in the same way we do. For example I'll be sad enough to cry and then it rains, like my tears are being heard.

Hope things go better with you Chris.

Appropriate words for these times--I feel the same. A perfect poem, I'd say.

Exceptional poeting, Dear Chris, as usual✨

In perfect Ballad meter, via a-b-c-b rhymes, your poetic voice sings wonderfully strong, penetrating to one's very core.

Whether composed from a deeply personal relationship or unfortunate politico-social level, there's no doubt any one of us can relate to the throes (as you've so poignantly expressed) of brightest hope turned to dark dismay.

May destiny, on both sides of the pond, flow e'er gentle to the sea...🙏

I so respect and admire how your mind and heart works, and how astutely you wield your pen to express it.
Thank you sincerely for sharing You … Happy Autumn! ⁓ Richard 🍂

The contrast between the bright sun, the sparkling lake, and the storm inside beautifully captures inner turmoil. The final lines, with the river’s turbulence, leave a strong impression of struggle and unrest beneath the surface. Beautifully done.

I must apologize Chris for a lack of posting and responding lately. My server has blocked me from getting on this site until today. hopefully I will be able to catch up if I can continue to get on. This poem is lovely in its darkness, it is indeed like storm clouds in the sky. I can feel the oncoming storm, the lightning of pain and the thunder of the future. Very nicely written
