Foreboding

Foreboding

A Poem by Chris Shaw

today the sun shines brightly
the lake is filled with rain
the sparkle on the surface
is marred by pangs of pain
the river should flow easy
so gentle to the sea
yet all I feel is turbulence
and storm clouds over me

Your poetry - thus you, has so often touched the dark side of life's day to day. Here you know the sun's bright yet accept the truth: Life varies not merely by its moments but its moods. Step gently, dear lady.

Thank you Em. Have a beautiful day. 🌹
Ah Chris! Lovely poem but it made me feel sad for you. Yet all I feel is turbulence and storm clouds over me. We have all been there. This poem appears so simple, so short, yet it is a little masterpiece of word mastery, blending nature with the inner storm. Sorry, I have not read your work in a while, but you know I’m a fan.

Welcome friend
Honestly, Chris, I sometimes find myself wishing for a day to come when your poetry will be anything other than excellent. I'm starting to contemplate whether you are a human at all. But in fact, I think you are more human than most, finding beauty in simple things and being able to express this beauty in such an eloquent manner, nonetheless. You have no idea how many you touch with your words daily, myself included. It's always a thrill to read your works. I wish for better and easier days for you and your troubled mind. Quoting some song lyrics by Joshua Radin:

"Sometimes it's easier to hit the road
When the world is givin' you a heavy load
But if you stay and face it, I know
Tomorrow is gonna be better
Let the rain fall"

Chris, I think if I ever wrote a line like yours, "the lake is filled with rain", I would cease to write again because I would fear that I could never reach something so beautiful again. I feel like I want to print out your line on a T-shirt to share it with those who would notice it's beauty (and of course your name in the credit). Thank you for this gift.

Thank you so much Amanda.

Chris
I think that we have all felt this when all the world around us seems placid and calm but within we are turbulent and agitated. A very nicely written poem Chris with great rhyme and good menter. Short and to the point it leaves its emotional feeling

Most welcome Chris
Hi Chris,
I was missing you.
I just want to say to you. A brave heart never seen failure. I learnt this line Geetha, that we need to perform duties to the best though we see troubles and way is tough, definitely results are overwhelming. So I wnt everyone in family do our duties to the best personal or business. I never understood how that impacts today this morning I realised I was taking medicine for fertility and I want to i don't know I make use of teaching in every hurdle and move ahead. I thought last two weeks I turned down my medication why I need to when everything looks hopeless. But this line is making me understand the reality of it. I doing fair and not cheating anybody and I loving my family, maybe this life or next life I would reach my family, that is the hope I am having.
If we think we fordee future not a delight of what we thought, what we have today is what we need to we never know how tomorrow is going to be bright..

I know business is getting tough to handle a try wil not make us short to do, we try keep on trying and we try our best..

Thank you
Keep yourself positive
Everything will be resolved 😃

Jessy Jacob ❤️.

Thank you dear Jessy.
Yes, this one is visceral. Thank you Chris. I like this a lot, having the concept of the lake filled with rain. Celebrating the sunny day- As I now look out my window to cloud and drizzle. "All i feel is turbulence"; that resonates with me. I dont often feel this way, however it is quite disturbing when our inner workings are contrary to the beauty outside. Not just in nature but in the people around us. It is good to perceive this so we dont bring others down. Well written, beautiful.

This poem feels very real and emotional. The way you compare the sunshine and the rain to your own feelings makes it so easy to connect with. I can feel the weight of the pain and the inner storm you are going through. It reminds me of how sometimes everything around us looks bright, but inside we still carry struggles. I hope that you're doing well!
