Foreboding

Foreboding

A Poem by Chris Shaw

today the sun shines brightly
the lake is filled with rain
the sparkle on the surface
is marred by pangs of pain
the river should flow easy
so gentle to the sea
yet all I feel is turbulence
and storm clouds over me

I enjoyed this lyrical piece of poetry. It's magical in the way it moves. I expect no less from a talented poet as yourself, Chris. Excellent work. CLE

I've had why experiences that to me ended up being premonitions.

I have the occasional premonition too. That can be scary at times. Thank you Cowboy.

Incredible writing describing a feeling and premonition that we all feel from time to time. This was very timely for me, as fate would have it. I hope you are ok if you are dealing with a challenge in your life right now. I’m shelving this one in my library. Thank you for sharing your writing.

Thank you for relating Martha and for your visit. All the best to you.

No matter how pleasant the weather might be, it is inevitably overshadowed by inner storms. This well rhymed piece does not name the particular inner storm, but it is shadowing everything else.

Look on the bright side, Chris: You don't have to deal with Trump.
vivid images, though melancholic, dear Chris; Sometimes even when the rain pours down to make the lake glisten and the sun smiles, we feel inner pain...no matter what the weather.... it does not control us; Pain comes and goes despite all.... lovely painting!!!

I've heard about the turbulence you might be speaking about. Parts of the UK are unrecognizable. Too many people moving in from different cultures and changing the face of England. I hope it gets better somehow and the smooth waters come back.

Wonderful metaphor here, Chris.
I really like it when you combine your metaphors with your vivid imagery.
I think there is much turbulence coming...the state of world affairs is such a dark cloud moving in.

Strange what the '6th Sense' tells us at times, particularly at this time of year, when Autumn is just around the corner. Maybe it is the memories of the 2 World Wars being declared in August 1914 and September 1939. Exceptional ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
