i glide on waters of your
scented memory
navigate the meanders
of your reassuring smile
i search for sunbeams
on the journey to the sea
afraid to dive below the
surface
into the depths of the
river’s floor
afraid of drowning in the
stagnant dark depression
that life bestows
i have seen my sister’s
pale blue eyes
hollowed out by fear
i have held her trembling
in my warm embrace
look at me she says
as she spells out the word
despair
letter by letter in a half
whisper
my left hand gripped till
the bones feel they will break
we are glue
where she goes
by her side I will be
This is painfully beautiful. It made my heartache for my older brother, who has been gone for quite some time, but the heart never forgets.

She's so fortunate to have you as a sister. Many siblings fight so much they break up for years and never call or get together. I've seen it. Same with brothers. I'm praying for you both, Chris.

I have been very fortunate with my siblings. We are all very close. That’s down to our parents, who instilled in us the value of family. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. All the best to you.
Chris.
These days it seems it is all we can do to "Go with the flow." There was a time when important events came few and far between so we could stop and consider, assimilate, grow in wisdom... now they come so fast, one after another... all day, every day, and there is nothing we can do about any of them, so we carry this vague shame, and have to remind ourselves that "this too shall pass," because it already has.

You are so right about the continual onslaught of events and stuff. I often find myself saying, like you do, “this too shall pass”. Yes, going with the flow, when the going gets tough. Gets you moving. Hope all is good with you.

You have the ability to reach into a place, a situation, and gently re-create its core, its pain and share it with others without forcing them to read and absorb. But, that said, can share what needs to be read, feel how life and relationships can become part of a sensitive person's reason to live, to help and to hold. Know of such sadness but never, never been able to find such beautiful words about.. tragedies. Sharing at this level is learning how to be a true human, Chris.

We were never guaranteed an easy ride Chris, but it must help when you are close enough to help share the load and be there to reassure and comfort her.
Of you don't go with the flow you are just fighting against a current that will never tire and usually win by exhausting you into submission.
When you are the one with all of the problem, then having someone there to help take the load halves the problem and im sure she'll be grateful to you for that if she is lucid enough to understand all that you do for her.
Beautifully written.

Dear Chris
you show us a loving, caring special relationship in this well written piece....melancholic and very real; your words are superb in describing the ultimate demise... and how it affects you to this date...
I love " glide on the waters of your scented memory"...." I have held her trembling in my warm embrace"...

Tender and aching, like a slow river of memory. Grief, fear, and devotion flow together—imagery intimate, emotions deeply raw.
