Going With The Flow

Going With The Flow

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

As it comes

"
i glide on waters of your
scented memory
navigate the meanders
of your reassuring smile
i search for sunbeams
on the journey to the sea
afraid to dive below the
surface
into the depths of the
river’s floor
afraid of drowning in the
stagnant dark depression
that life bestows
i have seen my sister’s
pale blue eyes
hollowed out by fear
i have held her trembling
in my warm embrace
look at me she says
as she spells out the word
despair
letter by letter in a half
whisper
my left hand gripped till
the bones feel they will break
we are glue
where she goes
by her side I will be

This poem is heartfelt and emotional. The water imagery reflects feelings, and the sibling bond is strong and protective. It shows love and care even in times of despair. Beautiful poem, Chris.

This poem is beautiful in its recognition of the human condition, and in paying tribute, giving love to your gravely ill sister. I know your sorrow. Your final words are chilling. Your sister sounds terminal and you will accompany her into death.

Such a tender and moving piece. I love how you capture the flow of memory and emotion, and the bond with your sister adds so much depth and intimacy. The way you navigate fear and care feels incredibly real and heartfelt. Beautifully written

Thank you RomaJ. So appreciated.

Chris this poem speaks out of trauma's fear and the darkness that encompasses it. Depression a sad state, illness some say it withers one's strength and plagues one's pleasures with dreams that turn to dust. Well done my friend
