Outside The Skylight

Outside The Skylight

A Poem by Chris Shaw

a vast expanse of ebon sky
a wrap to warm within its arms
outside the skylight velvet smooth
a comfort blanket how it charms
and soothes the creases of the day
the silhouettes of distant trees
familiar sturdy constant true
how nature is a friend to me
how nature breathes how nature calms
and whispers words in night time breeze
the world is sleeping, sleeping tight
while nature gifts its company

Nature can heal a broken heart, or a wandering heart. This is a comforting poem, Chris. Nice one.

There is such a gentle, soothing feel to this poem, where the night sky is a comfort blanket and the trees are steadfast companions and that really captures how nature restores us. I love the way you show the world at rest while nature quietly keeps us company. A calming and beautiful read, Chris.
