Is this a description of your own garden? Good description, whatever; good piece of stuff, too. I've enjoyed this. (I'm in the IT at the library, so can't read aloud. Pity. I often read stuff aloud.)

My great grandson was walking in the footsteps of his Dad. It brought back many memories. Your voice my friend is very memorable. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Chris,
This feels like one of those vivid memories that are all images and no words, so we have to come up with some so people know what it was like. Somehow, when this happens to me, I fail utterly. Yes, the visuals are there, but rarely carry the exact quality of light, or the aroma, or the way the shadow of trees dance on the ground... I think I relate to this so well because I know it is so packed with all the tiniest bits that just can't work this way... This is maybe my favorite of yours.

Chris, you simply paint with words. Such vivid imagery. You threw me a surprise which made me a little sad, those last two lines: so many moons ago…..wet wet wet

Boys all want to impress their dads and be like them too. "I-i-i-i-it isn't c-c-cold d-d-d-a-a-a-d-d-d" he would say, while wishing it was summer so he could take off his t shirt and show off his invisible muscles!
How do I know i hear you ask? Well stop interrupting and I'll tell ya! 😀
For i was that soldier many moons ago and they really should make junior rakes for non giants, but kids still struggle on like its just the right size and they'll zoom through it in a minute.
Plus, its always a great way to tease them when they're older. Even if he grows up to be a top lawyer and have a supermodel girlfriend! 😀

Out in the garden in his jim jams while I was wrapped up in woolies. Hope it’s a bit warmer where you are. It’s been freezing down these parts lately. Warming up slightly now. Happy Tuesday.
Autumn days filled with memories....father and son, the decay of seasonal colors we have to remember in our mind's eye.. awaiting the sting of winter to befall...love all the details you show us.... "green blades smothered...." "On a storm of autumn rainfall".....
Thank you for sharing dear Chris... and a happy weekend ahead

You’ve painted a picture that captures the tiny details of a November day filled with weather. Perhaps too much weather. Along with the yearning of a young man learning to grow up. Beautiful

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
