Braveheart

Braveheart

A Poem by Chris Shaw

today i saw a daffodil
shivering in the winter chill
and though the sky was summer blue
the whistle of the wind blew cold
this golden flower stood its ground
refused to bend refused to bow
i swear i heard a whisper then

this will not be the end of me

i thought of you and how you fought
through days of illness troubled nights
i thought of all the love you give
and then my heart felt reassured
the clock is not about to stop
your inner strength has found my pen
determined you will fight to live

Your poem compares the resilience of a daffodil standing against winter’s chill to a person enduring illness and challenges.
Expressing of nature (the daffodil) and personal struggle (illness), showing how both can symbolize hope, strength, and perseverance.
VERY WELL WRITTEN.

This is gentle but strong. The daffodil isn’t decoration here—it’s backbone. I like how you let resilience speak without shouting. Quiet hope, honestly earned.

The imagery is powerful,so is the human will.
It’s been known to perform insurmountable tasks and survive impossible situations.
Hope births faith, and faith fuels the will to live.
Thank you for this thought provoking piece Chris.

The flower is apparently a metaphor for someone dear. The determination to prevail can sometimes reverse the direst of situations. Best of luck to your personal daffodil.

I love this Chris. My Sainted and now departed Mother adored daffodils, and her garden was full of them in the early months of the year. They are indeed the bravest flower of all, and true prophets of Spring. Exceptional Plus ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
