Braveheart

Braveheart

A Poem by Chris Shaw

today i saw a daffodil
shivering in the winter chill
and though the sky was summer blue
the whistle of the wind blew cold
this golden flower stood its ground
refused to bend refused to bow
i swear i heard a whisper then

this will not be the end of me

i thought of you and how you fought
through days of illness troubled nights
i thought of all the love you give
and then my heart felt reassured
the clock is not about to stop
your inner strength has found my pen
determined you will fight to live

It might be surreptitious of me or even arrogant but I so relate to that daffodil. And that includes my New Years Resolution to walk again. Wonderfully writ and inspiring Chris Happy New Year .

Dear Ken, the daffodil is resilient, so I am pleased that you relate to this poem. Thank you for you.. read more
The humble daff, a vibrant jolt of colour that reminds us of so much just when we need a bit of brightness in our days.
I remember them appearing as if by magic in my grans garden, not knowing of how seasonal gardens can change from one to another as if by magic. They are a very underestimated plant and cheap as chips too. Plus, they are a cheap way for granddads to make granny smile...just as long as they weren't picked from her patch! 😀
