Somnolent Calm

Somnolent Calm

A Poem by Chris Shaw

gentle waves of briny kindness
soothing touch in sleepy state
listen to the wash of water
kissing shingle on the beach
calming on a drift to dreamland
to a place of peaceful thoughts
caught in trance like lilting rhythm
soon all stresses dissipate
as do mists that veil the river
burned away by morning sun
gone the fears unwelcome harming
nature’s healing will be done
turn to Gaia earthly Goddess
with the hassles of the day
rest upon a soft cloud pillow
close those eyes and float away

Your words open space to let Nature shed glory rather than what's fed by sockets and button-pressing, Chris. It's the 'all around' space to just be.. satisfied, calm yet giving sans spite or self-seeking.

Not merely the sentiments, but the rhythm is so well crafted to lull us along your words.

I'll get the piss out of you one of these days.

Would that this world were so, but such images, of gentle surfs and drifting sleeps... fine things. I hope all is well, Chris. Cheers from the States.

A wonderful and calming poem that truly eases the ever racing heart ❤️
We all need more of this in such times. It's incredibly lovely go take a moment of pause to read poems like these and just experience!
I do live in the mountains, so unfortunately I seldom have the chance to even view a beach aside from pictures- but this poem brought back memories of collecting seashells on the Shores of Latvia's seas. Bless ❤️

Chris, it sounds like a wonderful spot to go to. It leaves me with visions of the Oceans shorline, water gently caressing, well worn stones of past days. With the mist and fog lifting towards the heat of the sun. Turning Chaos into rest, where one can dream and ride the clouds, simply floating away to wherever you wish.
Water, Sun, Clouds, and Dreams. You can never go wrong.

Thank you, Chris. For the vision.

Ahh, happynightnightdreamysleeps I call them. But perhaps I should have waited until I wasn't reading this on my break, as im feeling ever so sleepy and I still have about 9 places left to visit, to make sure people are doing what they are doing and not, well snoozing on the job!
Maybe I'll just have a little nap during my lunch break to make sure im up to the task and feel more invinegarated! 😃
