Breakfast in the Dock

Breakfast in the Dock

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

( more marina musings )

like a pendulum keeps steady time
river grass sweeps the morning air
plumes of pointed feathery soft
are light brush strokes
tickling the grey mottled sky
swaying back and forth

the swans are nesting again
within eye sight of plate glass windows
misted with drear drizzle
Caryl Anna is a beautiful memory
as are last years cygnets
lives cut short

our boat has gone though she sails on
afloat in waters elsewhere
the tea tastes strong and hot
the bacon scrummy and crunchy
some things remain
ever welcome

appreciated and prized
nothing wrong with
the same old same old

Beautiful words blooming
In the beauty of nature's
Gifts of the chilly morn of
Day break.

Calming tea by the dock
With bacon 🥓 and whatever
Eles lovely welcoming breakfast
Delight.

Such lovely
Elegant words,

Sounds like art
Coming to life
Upon the easel
And paint 🎨

And the paintbrush
In nature with the
Beautiful colors.

Beautiful
As always
Friend poet
Chris 👏

River grass sweeps
The morning air,

Plumes of pointed
Feathery soft are light
Brush strokes tickling
The grey mottled sky
Swaying back and
Forth.

G'day, Dear Chris, in Berskshire, UK! 🌤

It's a lovely day here in Texas, USA … tall white, puffy clouds in a warm azure, sunshine-blessed sky, Springtime birds singing in soaring lullaby.

You said, "like a pendulum keeps steady time" and I thought "metronome" … LOL! Leave it to me to wander-of into na-na land.

"river grass sweeps the morning air
plumes of pointed feathery soft
are light brush strokes
tickling the grey mottled sky
swaying back and forth" (goodness me, Lady Poet!)

After years being blessed to enjoy your poetry, I've never once grown tired of your imaginatively original style of saying so brilliantly, what would otherwise be but common prose … you literally turn words into living magic! And, though I passionately envy and inwardly praise each line you've shared here, your final verse epitomizes my sentiments … exactly.

You're my favorite Free Verser; no one else comes close.
Thank you, Dear Chris, for sharing You … "Happy Springtime!" ⁓ Richard🍃

Beautiful imagery. I grew up in Florida and spent a lot of time at the beach and boating. In my childhood people could camp on the beach and our family did this very often. We would spend weeks at a time there, never leaving except to replenish our supplies. Your poem brought back wonderful memories of those days.

wot with all the swans, cygnets and dock, for a micro moment I thought you were up before the beak .. this is enjoyably atmospheric our Chris & a pretty picture .. I know how much you loved that old gall .. hope she's in good hands .. yes life goes on and some of the more familiar things can bring such comfort .. like memories and crispy bacon sarnies .. this has the Chris Shaw hallmark running write through it .. and my seal of approval stamped accordingly .. 💜

The sun reached critical mass about 5 billion years ago. How many "earth" days are in a billion "sun" years I wonder? In reality there is no such thing as a day, or a year really. We made that stuff up relative to what's in front of us. If the sun were a planet and the center of the milky way was it's star... one year would equal 225 million years. It's called a galactic year (seriously, that's a thing). In that sense it's been less than a year since the dinos got waxed. Humans, man, we are the equivalent of a few minutes old as a species. We are all still eating breakfast.

Chris this sets the mood with the wonderful imagery. Life is full of changes but it is the consistency that gives one a sense of stability and peace. The changes pass us by like the pendulum and the waving of the grass and people come and go the same and we do our best to distract ourselves with the mundane. Very nice Chris

It sounds as though the marina is a place often visited and always enjoyed. There is indeed nothing wrong with the same old same old, as long as it is appreciated.
