Momentary

Momentary

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Playing with light and shadow

"
the waves on lakeside water
ablaze in morning sun
all those dancing flashing jewels
competing one by one
dazzling to the naked eye
this wondrous play on light
that turns the dull grey surface
to spangles diamond bright
in awe of nature’s beauty
embracing given gifts
impressive with the timing
it can not fail to lift
yet all these precious moments
short lived and too soon done
a drifting cloud has intervened
the clustered gems are gone

This gem evokes the old saying carpe diem live each moment for they will never come again. This write sparkles in metaphor and reality and tells its tale well Cris.

You are always most welcome Chris your poems are a pleasure to read
Ah, what a beautiful polished gem just lying here on the cafe' sidewalk! This was so lovely to read, not a forced rhyme or line in the verse; clear concise meaning, easily imagined and relived in the readers mind, still, short and catchy enough to be a song of water nymphs at play. Delightful. F.

Well, that's life, Chris. Can't be all light. Nevertheless, the rhyming and imagery were excellent. I think you must live in a scenic part of England.

I like the way you capture light on the water and how quickly it shifts. That ending with the cloud works nicely.

How well you capture this Scene Chris, with yr keen Poet's eye for the details. And how the mood lifts with the Sun, and sinks when it clouds over. Exceptional ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
