From Little Beginnings

From Little Beginnings

A Poem by Chris Shaw

it’s a small triumph
not one to go down in history
but those pine cone seeds
i helped to germinate
last year

to produce eleven tiny trees
now growing in our greenhouse
have gone from strength to
strength

and though their height
remains assorted
their root system is nothing
short of magnificent

such an advantage for some
in life to be so blessed
with a sturdy start

Albert, my paternal grandfather introduced me to Tennyson when I was nine. I have loved poetry ever since but did not attempt writing a single piece until I was 40. It's never too late to try somethin.. more..
