Into the Unknown

Into the Unknown

A Poem by Firebird
"

Reflections on a worm's journey.

"
A worm crossing the path.
Full stretch,
Blind.
She escaped
From saturated, airless ground.
Suffocating in her own home.
Risking being stamped on,
Or attacked by birds,
She slides naked
And vulnerable
Into the unknown.

Great perspective from the point of view of the little lowly worm, who like all of us, is only trying to make the most of his or her situation in life, as best as they can. Well, except for the birds trying to eat us, that doesn't happen very often to us :)

In writing poetry, we are all like this little worm, as we are baring our souls to the world. I for one can relate to this little worm, leaving the dark behind and venturing into the unknown. I loved this poem.

Thank you Stef. I'm really glad you liked it. :-)
yes, she is vulnerable...but she takes risks...she needs to get to the other side of life and see what is there...

no static life for her.

She inspired me with her efforts. I could relate to her and I also like to rescue worms from the pat.. read more

Worms are nasty to touch but sometimes they need rescuing.

Sometimes we would all like to be rescued.
