Like a sledgehammer

The noise crushes the skull

Like a blinding light

To the eyes are the ears

Maybe, if they were busy

It would be easier to rest?

 

Sometimes we desire

A place away from music

From squeals of joy

Or cries of heartbreak

Sometimes we want away from

The essential noise of life
