Green Apples

Green Apples

A Poem by Accelerated Clarity

i am not colorblind

i just live in a world without color

a world void of saturation

i think you feel guilty about it

so you bring me little gifts

a box of red ribbon here, an orange rossiter painting there

just this morning

the brown paper sack on the kitchen counter

its crisp edges full and bulging to the brim

with what must have been confused green apples

sweaty with condensation, mirrored

with a thousand eyes

so many witnesses to this place

where green apples don't even exist
