Down, Down, DownA Poem by Jeremy CooneyWas in a good mood, decided to write a song.Down, Down, Down by Jeremy Cooney
I’ve dreamed a life full of innovation A future much brighter, a billion to one Undersea turbines, lasso the sun ‘fore it goes down, down, down Alter the tank to be shovel and plow Fisherman carpenter, hawk, ram and cow Time to get ready, that storms coming now Two by two we go Down, down, down, down One is too many, twelve’s not enough Same story, new names, bored of this stuff You say it’s a pipedream, I call your bluff Polls are down, down, down, down Freedom for all broke in 1902 Mr. Morgan got some ‘splainin to do Fire up the generators, skies turn deep blue As the lightning comes crashin Down, down, down, down Don’t expect you to jump right away But gallon by gallon we’re dying each day Competing for food like it’s 5kbc Want a solution, well listen to me No? Then we go Down, down, down, down
Life ain’t a blessing, life ain’t a curse Could always get better, could always be worse It’s a scary a*s ride, whose going first It goes up, down, up down So at my funeral pass the mug around Scatter my ashes, not to be found Sing songs round a fire, laugh till you hit the ground It’s a jolly good day when we go Down, down, down, down Don’t expect to read all my sin Don’t think I’ll be asked to start again Don’t really want to be haloed or horned Not to be praised, not to be scorned Only expecting to go Down, down Down, down, down, down
