I lay still

I lay still

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

My feelings that came in the night...

"

I lay still...

her warm sleeping skin

brushes my back.

My thoughts race

to the once summer sun

piercing the clouds;

her all in white lace

and laughter.

Such echoes linger

like the taste of chocolate.

Golden leaves came to visit;

cooler nights and darker days.

Colored leaves left

patterns on the

sand and soil;

a chill wind whispered

thoughts of despair

and separation.

Here freedom haunted us,

and white ice crept on our bed,

turning warm skin cold.

Darkness drove us distant.

But now?

Now the scent of tulips

lingers in our covers.

Skin is warm again

as earth and heaven awaken

and the fragrance drifts over us.

She brushes my back

and I lay still...

This is beautiful. I could actually feel the warmth shining through the clouds. Your talent is one many would envy (I know I do). You have this incredible ability to make your words dance across the page in bright vivid colours full of expression and tenderness.

What can I say? I love your writing, Craig!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful dedication to enduring love that knows its not always spring but spring comes and winter doesn't last forever.. I absolutely loved the leaves leaving patterns on the soil, so much softer and transient than the thought if scars from words so often said but seldom meant and actions regretted and pulled back in vain.. This was a such a pleasure to read.. Cheers and light thoughts to the tenderness of lasting love.

What a moving piece! It has a sensual feel that is as intoxicating as any bottle of preferred choice, and provides us with the same heady delight!

Lucky lady, that she is!

My best to you both,

Comparing relationships to the seasons always really touches me, and you did so very well.
This is a beautiful poem, there is so much emotion behind it. I am happy you and your wife made it through your share of winters.

What beautiful writing. This is exactly how it is, love is like the seasons but not all are as lucky as you and manage to turn the ice back into spring again. It's not only a great description of love but this is full of hope. Wonderful.

"Our relationship has seen many seasons..." Eloquently written.
Your poem sensually takes one on a journey of husband and wife;
through the times when passion's fire has burned to an ember...
and the spark has reignited itself to a blaze.
Beautifully written, Craig.

Using elements of nature as metaphor for your relationship is very effective....this is a beautiful poem.
I like the phrase you used in your description of this poem:

"Our relationship has seen many seasons... "

I knew it would be a wonderful poem if I was enchanted by the description....nice work!
