You're welcome, so far so good, can't complain.
Hope the same with you. 😊
A very tactile poem that I could feel on my skin and see in a visual sense. Excellent.

Grateful to have you stop by! Thanks for your kindness.
For years your poetry has touched both my heart and mind, Craig. The above is no exception: you've touched on shadows and how they can intrude where they're not wanted yet - make sense of hidden emotions. Possibly or probably: what I call the 'the all and about' is maybe what helps to calm and hold safe our worries is - by having the power to point out what is beautiful in what might be a dark time. The dawn and dusk of every season, the cries an' calls of small hidden creatures, a twig or fallen leaf, snail trails and a feather mislaid reminds us Humans what might be residue or a reminder that what mattered once will forever be the same. We become where we've been, who we've known , what we've learned and HOW forever. Your words inspire Thought.

The title alone is bittersweet and beautiful. Lovely imagery as always. I like the flow of this and feel of quiet hope in the last line

From the first line i knew instantly the smell of crushed pine, having a mainly pine forest surrounding my home that never needs a store bought air freshener. It is just another plus to living a more quiet rural life, with the others being the freedoms that almost solitude brings and despite how cold it gets it is worth it just to know you have completely unplugged from city life.
There are actually fire pits nearby, away from the trees for hikers and campers to use and it might just be the time of the year we are reaching, but what a festive setting your words are to my ears Craig, despite that smell of pine being even more intense in the warmer months I am certainly feeling more festive for reading your words. 😀
