As a ChildA Poem by Tenten
When I was a child I dreamt of a father Who would always be there For me, for us To chase away bad dreams To keep away evil men As a teenager I wished for a mother Who was true To her children, her family That would wipe away tears Absolve the pain in a life As a young woman Those wishes, those dreams Turn to dust And we laugh now At the foolishness of childhood Daddy s rarely there Mommy will not be here How foolish children Can be in their always Fading nativity
