I wonder

I wonder

A Poem by ckm
"

Observations on changing lifestyle

"

I wonder

I wonder why children have stopped

Playing in the park,

That looks abandoned and lonely

I wonder why little toddlers no longer

Chase each other on the

Lush green meadow

That invites young ones to sit

Or stroll

I wonder why teens and punks don’t

Crowd at street corners

To bellow out their heart’s desires

I wonder why young men and women

Do not step out to enjoy

A walk under the full moon

I wonder why crowds of happy grand parents

Have stopped meeting and discussing

Their past with nostalgia

I wonder why the stars compete

With street bulbs

To win our attention while

We stare at LED screens

To talk to our next door neighbor

I wonder why our conversations

Are limited to texts

Not talks

To typing

Not telling!

I wonder why we don’t go to the local market

To get our veggies and chicken and meat

Instead check in at the air-conditioned departmental store

For a packed set!

I wonder why we have given up !

Is it for LUXURIES?

Or, is it I’m too old to enjoy the

Transition of life into silence of the soul?
