Who are they?

Who are they?

A Poem by ckm

Who are they?

I have doubts

Behind the glossy masks of men and women

Who ask me about my welfare

Who are these that lurk?

Every morn they greet me good luck

Every eve they ask about my day

Every weekend they invite me to their homes

And treat me to new dishes

Every festive occasion they celebrate with me

Every new  year they make new resolutions with me

Every tired day they share an amusing anecdote

Every month a new book worth reading

But who are they?

Friends with dark secrets who hide from their own shadows?

Or mere people who cannot live life on their own terms?

Who are they?

Are they ones who share juicy gossips to keep away the monotony,

Of their daily drudgeries

Or are they tired pilgrims

Who have lost their zeal and strength?

And their guts to give up

And start afresh?

Who are they?
