Mexican AmericanA Poem by Cheyanna
I am Mexican American
But somehow, I feel that I don't belong to either My light complexion My "white" sounding voice My music choices My lack of spanish fluency To others, I am not Mexican My non-white skin My slight accent My embracement of my culture My dark hair and eyes To others, I am not white I am the product of a mixing pot From two separate worlds And though that should mean I fit into every category I've never felt so isolated
