God Knows

God Knows

A Poem by Sams

God knows that the world is wobbly

God knows that the wheat is wilting

God knows that the seas are rising

God knows that the future seems bleak

I think about those in the streets

And I worry for the cold and wind

I wonder how long they’ve been out there

I cry for how hard it’s been

God knows that there’s blood on the ground

God knows that the west is crumbling

God knows that the man is a priest

God knows what is next, what is coming

I think of my hands and my chest

Where my body has grown over time

I think, if I’m really being honest

That there’s no reason for me to have cried

God knows that children are dying

He knows the names of their captors

He knows that its unjustified

But there isn’t much he can do about it, now is there?

But i can pick up the torch

I can fuel the flame

I can lift up my right hand

And I can resist all the same
