“Elli, you should really go to bed soon.”

“Oh, yeah. I guess you’re right… but I’m just not very tired. Do you think maybe we could do something first? Before bed? To make me tired?”

“No, Elli. I’m already falling asleep… you should just close your eyes and count as high as you can. I bet that’ll tire you out soon enough.”

“No, Nox, I don’t think it will. I can’t count very high.”

“Well, what do you want me to do about it?

“I don’t know. We could count together?”

“But I’ll fall asleep before you do.”

“I know.”

“Then how will that fix anything?”

“Then I’ll count better. I think?”

“Ugh… fine, we can count together. But when I pass out you’re not allowed to wake me up again, got it? You can just count in your head or something. Ready?”

“Yeah, ready.”

“One.”

“Two.”
