LadyA Chapter by Sams “Nox, don’t you think it’s a little weird that we haven’t seen the Lady in such a long time?” “What lady?” “You know, the Lady. I forgot her name. She shows up sometimes, and just stares at us for a bit, then leaves. She always looks so sad.” “Oh, you mean London.” “Yeah, her!” “London only comes to check in on us. Make sure we haven’t run off to somewhere we’re not allowed to be.” “Huh. But I thought we couldn’t leave your room?” “Well, I mean, if you try hard enough I think you can. If you try hard enough, you can do just about anything here.” “Woah… you think there are other rooms?” “Yes, there are other rooms.” “How do you know?” “Because I passed some of them when I was on my way here. They all looked the same, though. I just kept walking, expecting to find a room with a bed, or a window. Something interesting. But they all looked the same, so I just settled for the last one.” “What were in all of the rooms?” “A chair. And a person.” “A person?” “Yeah. They all looked the same. They sat in their chairs, in the middle of their rooms.” “Was I sitting in a chair, when you found me?” “Yeah, you were sitting. The only time I've ever seen you sit still. But then once I went inside, you blinked for the first time, and you smiled, and you looked at me with these big eyes. And then the door went away behind me.” “That’s so wild… I barely even remember that, it was so long ago.” “I remember it. It was the best thing to ever happen to me, I think.” “To get stuck in a plain room with a plain chair and a plain person?” “Better than anything out there. But to be fair, anything would be better than out there.”
