Sugar Pills

Sugar Pills

A Poem by Sams
"

a song about being stuck

"
Popping sugar pills
Placebo setting in
Lying on the couch
Patience growing thin
Waiting for the high
Know it’s not coming
Losing my fragile mind
Anticipating the finale

An ant farm
Maze of sand
Little bodies
Digging endlessly
Only so much air
Eventually
They will drown
Without anywhere
To bury their
Dead

Popping sugar pills
Procrastinating again
Sitting on the couch,
Watching the world
Pass by.
A screen
Across from me
Pictures blur and scream
The story’s almost over
Time for the finale

Humming birds
Have the fastest wings
They buz and spin
And love sweet things
Sugar water
And pine trees
For a hummingbird,
that’s all they need.

Swallowing sugar
Eyes glazed
Can’t get up
Trapped for days
Days on end
Sinking, drowning,
A maze of sand
Sugar water
Is all I have left
Soon, it’s over
The last season
The finale is finished
Now watch it again.
