November WhimperA Poem by Marie HarrisonA poem about puppies.
November Whimper A tiny whimper I Heard from under my bed. No one said Prissy Was pregnant with puppies! Even though a few of them Were dead, four of them lived. Mom’s temper calmed down when She heard them softly whimper. It was a chilly early November, So we had to keep the puppies warm. We kept them in the laundry room With a space heater warming them. All the time they whimpered Loudly for more and more food. We had to hand feed Them milk with a bottle. Prissy’s temperament for Being maternal was lacking. Even before their new owner’s Came they still whimpered. I whimpered myself, incessantly Until one whimpering puppy Got to permanently call me Mom until I went to college.
