Cherokee LandA Poem by Marie HarrisonA love poem.Cherokee Land
When you turned your back on me in the end,
little did you know that
I had turned my back to you long ago, only to run towards the free-spirited heart of a Cherokee warrior.
Oh, what fun we had riding dune buggies in the sand and dancing under the moon in Cherokee land!
I was away at school. It wasn’t taboo.
In the end, I might have found it rude for you to walk away like you did.
But who am I to judge or wag my finger of shame, when I did the same thing to you long ago.
It was worth every minute to me,
to be held in the strong arms
of a bronzed Cherokee warrior.
