BARREL OF MONKEYS

 

These monkeys 

Swing on their

Banana trees

And smile at me

 

As I walk through

This world

                  Hungry,

                              Lonely

         And cold.

 

They flash their

Monkey money

Right in front

Of my face

And quickly

Raise their brown 

Tails at me

 

Showing exactly what

They think of me

As they scurry away

 

They laugh at me,

As they look down

On me and throw

Their poop at me

While perched up

High in their trees.

 

I know deep down,

They think they've

Duped me.

That they have

The upper hand

 

But we all

Serve someone

In this world.

 

A barrel of monkeys

This life is for me.

 

 

 

Author's Note

Seems like people are really having economic hardships right now, humor it the best and most hopeful coping mechanism sometimes. I wrote this last year and I thought I would share it with everybody. It made me laugh when I wrote it.
