Under the NeonA Poem by Chris MichaA universal love poem.Under the Neon
I'm underneath the lights Listening to my thoughts race Watching the sheen of rain glisten off your pale skin Like an array of neon inviting a wayward soul in for a hot cup of coffee At the only café at the edge of the universe Where the lonely traveler journeyed through countless frames of his life Searching through an infinite amount of stills taken, looking for answers Stitching together a mosaic of a map of where he's been Taking a step back, taking it all in Realizing instantly, once it's all put together Where this piece of Heaven exists tucked away somewhere In the most unlikeliest of places Where the road winds like a labyrinth There are no guarantees And faith fuels the engines to get there
Through it all He's made it to his destination Walks in Sits down And from the back she welcomes him with a smile A smile that says "it will all be okay from now on" She locks the doors Turns off the neon Serves him a hot cup of coffee And a kiss ...that brings me out of my thoughts.
