Blame It On The AlphabetA Poem by Cassidy MaskAlphabet stole my heart Locked it in an envelope Threw away the key And now I’m waging war Against the sky The battlefields set Us v Them Them v Us Or perhaps all we’re fighting Is ourselves Shooting at the mirror Dodging reflected bullets Dodging refracted bullets Shot by myself ‘Friendly Fire’ Is rather less friendly Than the name suggests Blood on the carpets What will mother say? Something nonsensical No doubt Lost her marbles When they rolled under the bed Look in the mirror And call it even Both of us are half dead Think it’s time to stop Put a plaster on it And back into battle This time the ammunition’s Different This is a war of the words And I’m feeling bloodthirsty.
Blame it on the Alphabet.
