The Day The Angels Died

The Day The Angels Died

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Bloody curls

Broke the horizon

And it was raining halos

The day the angels died

Jesus wept

And darkness came

As starless as each day

And blacker than deepest night

Our weeping profiles stood out

Against a thousand still silhouettes

But nevertheless envy

Boiled inside

For how could we stand

Knowing they watched us appraisingly

While we stood

Utterly blind
