HatredA Poem by Cassidy MaskI was feeling angry... but it's not about anyone in particular :)
It starts off as a nagging feeling A slight burn in the pit of my stomach Like something stirring In the depths But as your lips keep moving It grows Spreading through my veins Silent and deadly Like an invisible flame It takes over everything it meets Controlling Twisting my spine into angry shapes While my brain works furiously To stop it You are oblivious to my struggle Digging deeper and deeper Into a never-ending pit With your careless words Unaware of the hatred That boils within me For you and all that you stand for For every word that leaves your lips For every movement of your face Every twitch and every gesture It’s the way you say your words It’s the way you roll your eyes It’s your hands and your lips And it’s everything you do Everything you say It’s your boredom And your complaining It’s your envy And your narrow-mindedness It’s the way you patronise The way you condescend The way you seem to think That your opinion overrules Everyone else’s It’s that laugh you do When you think someone else Has said something primitive It’s the way you see yourself as sophisticated While everyone else finds you narcissistic It’s your self-importance And your self-absorbance But worst of all It’s how much of myself I see reflected in you © 2008 Cassidy MaskReviews
