Wish I'd Known Before

Wish I'd Known Before

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

With my hands

Around your neck

He whispered

Again and again

Trying

(Failing)

To make me understand

With my hands

It’s a Tuesday

That means

The milkman will be

Late.

He’s always late

On Tuesdays.

Around your neck

It’s November

That means

The air will be

Cold.

The wind is always

Bitter in November.

With my hands

It’s still dark

That means it’s quite

Early.

That means…

That means…

…Little

Around

I understand

Perfectly

Your

I just wish I didn’t

Neck

I just wish…

No one will hear

            …I’d known before.

You scream.
