The World From The Point Of View Of A Snail

The World From The Point Of View Of A Snail

A Chapter by Cassidy Mask
"

Believe it or not this book does (sort of) have a story line, but it is kind of wierd and messy. Jumps perspective and time a lot. And random, seemingly unrelated, chapters. Sorry.

"

Leaves stretch away above me. Too far to reach. Too close not to try. And so I stretch, thin muscles contracting and pulling apart. My eyes, on their raised stalks, feeling the sky. Tasting the greenness of chlorophyll that hangs in the air, that close, mouth-watering smell that my whole tiny existence is centred around. But from this stone on which I slime I cannot reach those slowly wavering green heavens, and so I turn instead to the festering corpse of a long dead bulb, that lays some twelve centimetres from me.

But as I move I can feel not a breath of wind, and I am resentful of this for the sun is feeling particularly spiteful today as she towers above, and I am a banded snail and liable to die from heat shock.

In fact I fear I shall never reach that bulb that lies so appetizingly rotten in a bed of fallen leaves.

Such a shame.
