From AfarA Poem by Cassidy MaskReally Awful
From afar I watched you fall From afar I watched it all Every second of your life I watched you grow And take that knife I watched you age And then at last You gave it up Your foolish past But then something changed And it wasn’t enough I watched you crave I watched you lust For the feel Of stainless steel As it tore your skin And flesh I watched you bleed I watched you cry I watched you ache But never die My advice You would not heed Though good advice It was indeed But then perhaps If not given from afar You would have Not so many scars And then one day I watched you drown In a wave of remorse Which brought you down A crippling blow Aimed far two low Like having your ankles Kicked from beneath you You sat shaking Staring at wounds Of your own making Ones that you could not erase
I did this Were your whispered words I did this Me, I did this You dropped the blade You dropped the knife You dropped it all To save your life ‘Cause you were drowning It is was clear Even from all the way Over here I no longer watch From afar I watch from right Where you are ‘Cause I learnt a lesson Didn’t I I learnt that it’s real easy For you to die And I don’t want that I never did. I swear.
