The Whole Damn World

The Whole Damn World

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I woke today

(Despite promising myself not to)

To find my face bleeding.

It was my eyes.

They were too tired

(Of the whole damn world)

And so they bled.

Blinding me.

I went to the bathroom

To wash my face.

To wash my hands

Of the bright red

(Evidence?)

Blood.

To wash my eyes

To see again.

But the future looked bleak

And when I looked back

To see where I stood

It was all

(The whole damn world)

Was all

Gone.

That was something of a blow.
