D of E

D of E

A Poem by Cassidy Mask
"

Written after returning from a... memorable.. weekend doing D of E silver expedition..

"

Left. Right.

Ground. Sky.

Grass. Mud.

Hand. Eye.

Wet socks.

Cold hands.

Sore feet.

Bad plan.

Stretch up.

Reach down.

Aching back.

Deep frown.

Sharp rocks.

Burnt skin.

Wet tent.

Let me in.

Dry hands.

Short of breath.

Heavy bag.

This is death.

Can’t sleep.

Can’t breathe.

Sore throat.

Big heave.

Up again.

Bag on.

Nearly there.

Wailing song.

Doing gold?

I think not.

Lot’s of pain.

Not so hot.

Home at last.

The place to be.

Thank the lord.

That D of E

                …Is finally over…
